Written Review
This LAsploitation film aims for the fences and delivers. More than the grindhouse quality story and shoestring budget, Angel offers an interesting snapshot of 80s Hollywood as interpreted by the 70s-- a place where former Cowboys can sling stories of their heyday and panhandle for cash, where the strip was both dangerous and home to a community of outcasts and people on the margins, and where LA denizens are tourists in their own backyards. The Hollywood depicted here is long gone, and you may wonder if it ever existed in the first place, but the film does capture a certain something that makes it memorable.
