Review: Pee-wee's Big Adventure

This was one of those movies EVERYONE had watched growing up. EVERYONE knew about the Large Marge scene. Everyone learned about the Alamo because of this movie. EVERYONE recognized the big dumb dinosaurs in The Wizard because of this movie. Looking back, it's absolutely wild that PeeWee was such a household name -- my boring cousin got his doll for one of her birthdays and she lorded it over everyone-- but that unique mix of larger-than life cartoonish sincerity was maybe why it all worked so well.
